Hello to all,

he is my problem:

I just installed wallworm in my 3ds max 2011. i followed the tutorial on the site to the T. when i export my character model the compiler works fine. when it opens the folder were the files are contained there are the QC, SMD, and QCI files but not batch file. i went to the model viewer anyway to see if the folder was created and it was, but contained nothing? Im using the Wunderboy SMD Exporter. These are my directories for the files:

programfiles/steam/steamapps/sourcemods/tjmod/materialsrc/test

programfiles/steam/steamapps/sourcemods/tjmod/modelsrc/test

programfiles/steam/steamapps/sourcemods/tjmod/bin

is there something im missing here. also this was just a test, i dont have any material on my character, just UV's and animation

The BIN directory is probably wrong. You should make sure to delve down to the final bin folder where vtex.exe and studiomdl.exe are located. Usually:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\username\sourcesdk\bin\orangebox\bin

Hopefully that helps.  ;)

ladman

sounds good, i will try that

However, when i went to the bin directory in tjmod, there was only the one bin forder?

ladman

i went to the last bin folder in orangebox and i got the batch file to show up, now even when i go to open the character in the modeler, there is nothing in the folder? the compiler also gave me an error message. I have attached a picture of it to this post

ladman

never mind apparently i just cant read. in the compiler it was asking for a models folder not a modelsrc, so once i created the models folder it worked.

ladman

damm, now when i open the model in the model viewer is says error loading model?

i have looked all over the steam forums and google, and i cant find a good answer to how to fix this error?

is there a limit to the polygons you can have for steam? my character is 10k. he is urwraped and textured. i have no idea what could be the problem. i did not have to do any coding since wallworm does it for me. i can put up the code that was generated if it helps?

ladman

here are 2 picture of the compiler, they appear to be fine

my QC file has this code:

//QC File generated by the Wall Worm Model Tools Version 1.71
//Get the latest version and notes at:
//http://wallworm.com/projects/utilities/docs

$modelname   "wallworm/Box001.mdl"
$body Box001 "Box001.smd"
$cdmaterials "wallworm"
$sequence idle "Box001" loop fps 30

$include   "Box001_wwmt_custom.qci"

not sure what other files to check would be. let me know if you need to see some other files.

im also using 3ds max 2011 with wonderboy's smd converter. do i need to use Convexity?

I am in the middle of recording a video for a new release of the tool coming out later today. I will try to help troubleshoot the problem after I get that squared away.
