This is similar to a video I made last year on animated props. I've done this new video because the process has been simplified since then with enhancements to WWMT and the SMD Exporter. You no longer need a Skin modifier on your hulls--you just need to parent hull parts to bones used in the main model (either geometry nodes or bones).
