Model WIPs / Doom3 Cherub
November 02, 2013, 08:30:07 PM

I have been using Wall Worm tools to port stuff over to SFM. I have a basic model and most of the textures done. This was supposed to be the easiest. One texture for the entire body another one for the wings.

Currently I am unable to see any of the textures rendered on the model even when shaded or realistic render selections are set in a viewport. This included with or without maps.

Here is what I learned while creating:
Rendered UVW maps must be 512 by 512 pixels!
Textures or rendered UVW maps have to be flipped vertically via third-party image editor.

•   Diffuse = *_d.tga
•   Diffuse Color = models/monsters/*/*.tga
•   Specularmap = models/monsters/*/*_s.tga
•   bumpmap addnormals = models/monsters/*/*_local.tga

The following archive contains my progress as of 11/02/2013. Includes: the above .tga textures, unwrapped UVW map as a .tga, the .smd model imported and a .max file.

Thank you, that worked.

Since I have been asking for help on the forum, I might as well link to something of use. This program has been a major help as of late. Noesis by Señor Casaroja

I have been using it to finish porting over Doom 3 (ROE and mods) models and textures to Source for Source Filmmaker. The files in question are models (.md5mesh) and skeletal animations (.md5anim). This is because the rhe .MD5mesh import scripts for 3ds Max 2014, 2013 are broken, bones everywhere! It is possible to convert .MD5mesh model files to .SMD or .obj via Noesis.

Fun tip: Open a model file then from Windows Explorer drag and drop an animation file on to the preview screen to see the model animated. It can be exported this way too.

WWMT Questions / I think the modifier tab broken?
October 29, 2013, 11:47:42 PM
Hello all,

I have been following this guide to texturing models. Unfortunately the modifier tab list is all blank and seemingly broken. This prevents texturing, which is bad, because I am trying to continue a project.

How do I diagnose and fix this? Have I missed something obvious?
